SCIN: A new resource for representative dermatology images

Health datasets play a crucial role in research and medical education, but it can be challenging to create a dataset that represents the real world. For example, dermatology conditions are diverse in their appearance and severity and manifest differently across skin tones. Yet, existing dermatology image datasets often lack representation of everyday conditions (like rashes, allergies and infections) and skew towards lighter skin tones. Furthermore, race and ethnicity information is frequently missing, hindering our ability to assess disparities or create solutions.

To address these limitations, we are releasing the Skin Condition Image Network (SCIN) dataset in collaboration with physicians at Stanford Medicine. We designed SCIN to reflect the broad range of concerns that people search for online, supplementing the types of conditions typically found in clinical datasets. It contains images across various skin tones and body parts, helping to ensure that future AI tools work effectively for all. We’ve made the SCIN dataset freely available as an open-access resource for researchers, educators, and developers, and have taken careful steps to protect contributor privacy.

Dataset composition

The SCIN dataset currently contains over 10,000 images of skin, nail, or hair conditions, directly contributed by individuals experiencing them. All contributions were made voluntarily with informed consent by individuals in the US, under an institutional-review board approved study. To provide context for retrospective dermatologist labeling, contributors were asked to take images both close-up and from slightly further away. They were given the option to self-report demographic information and tanning propensity (self-reported Fitzpatrick Skin Type, i.e., sFST), and to describe the texture, duration and symptoms related to their concern.

One to three dermatologists labeled each contribution with up to five dermatology conditions, along with a confidence score for each label. The SCIN dataset contains these individual labels, as well as an aggregated and weighted differential diagnosis derived from them that could be useful for model testing or training. These labels were assigned retrospectively and are not equivalent to a clinical diagnosis, but they allow us to compare the distribution of dermatology conditions in the SCIN dataset with existing datasets.

The SCIN dataset contains largely allergic, inflammatory and infectious conditions while datasets from clinical sources focus on benign and malignant neoplasms.

While many existing dermatology datasets focus on malignant and benign tumors and are intended to assist with skin cancer diagnosis, the SCIN dataset consists largely of common allergic, inflammatory, and infectious conditions. The majority of images in the SCIN dataset show early-stage concerns — more than half arose less than a week before the photo, and 30% arose less than a day before the image was taken. Conditions within this time window are seldom seen within the health system and therefore are underrepresented in existing dermatology datasets.

We also obtained dermatologist estimates of Fitzpatrick Skin Type (estimated FST or eFST) and layperson labeler estimates of Monk Skin Tone (eMST) for the images. This allowed comparison of the skin condition and skin type distributions to those in existing dermatology datasets. Although we did not selectively target any skin types or skin tones, the SCIN dataset has a balanced Fitzpatrick skin type distribution (with more of Types 3, 4, 5, and 6) compared to similar datasets from clinical sources.

The Fitzpatrick Skin Type scale was originally developed as a photo-typing scale to measure the response of skin types to UV radiation, and it is widely used in dermatology research. The Monk Skin Tone scale is a newer 10-shade scale that measures skin tone rather than skin phototype, capturing more nuanced differences between the darker skin tones. While neither scale was intended for retrospective estimation using images, the inclusion of these labels is intended to enable future research into skin type and tone representation in dermatology. For example, the SCIN dataset provides an initial benchmark for the distribution of these skin types and tones in the US population.

The SCIN dataset has a high representation of women and younger individuals, likely reflecting a combination of factors. These could include differences in skin condition incidence, propensity to seek health information online, and variations in willingness to contribute to research across demographics.

Crowdsourcing method

To create the SCIN dataset, we used a novel crowdsourcing method, which we describe in the accompanying research paper co-authored with investigators at Stanford Medicine. This approach empowers individuals to play an active role in healthcare research. It allows us to reach people at earlier stages of their health concerns, potentially before they seek formal care. Crucially, this method uses advertisements on web search result pages — the starting point for many people’s health journey — to connect with participants.

Our results demonstrate that crowdsourcing can yield a high-quality dataset with a low spam rate. Over 97.5% of contributions were genuine images of skin conditions. After performing further filtering steps to exclude images that were out of scope for the SCIN dataset and to remove duplicates, we were able to release nearly 90% of the contributions received over the 8-month study period. Most images were sharp and well-exposed. Approximately half of the contributions include self-reported demographics, and 80% contain self-reported information relating to the skin condition, such as texture, duration, or other symptoms. We found that dermatologists’ ability to retrospectively assign a differential diagnosis depended more on the availability of self-reported information than on image quality.

While perfect image de-identification can never be guaranteed, protecting the privacy of individuals who contributed their images was a top priority when creating the SCIN dataset. Through informed consent, contributors were made aware of potential re-identification risks and advised to avoid uploading images with identifying features. Post-submission privacy protection measures included manual redaction or cropping to exclude potentially identifying areas, reverse image searches to exclude publicly available copies and metadata removal or aggregation. The SCIN Data Use License prohibits attempts to re-identify contributors.

We hope the SCIN dataset will be a helpful resource for those working to advance inclusive dermatology research, education, and AI tool development. By demonstrating an alternative to traditional dataset creation methods, SCIN paves the way for more representative datasets in areas where self-reported data or retrospective labeling is feasible.

Dragon Dancer III: Tokyo Love Story

“Fantasy Hotel Room 308A.” That was the text he got from Lu MIngfei, known as Akira to Hydras, when he inquired of Erii’s location. He sighed loudly with annoyance. That was a Lover’s Hotel! And a well-known one at that.

He stilled his temper. It accelerated his breath and pulled against his stitches. That guy was getting bolder and bolder.

He kept to muted colors under his trenchcoat. A ball cap and sunglasses hid his identity on the street. When he arrived at the hotel is was during the day and no one was checking in so the front desk clerk was watching TV and didn’t even notice when he walked in. He took the elevator to the third floor and knocked on the door to the suite.

As Akira opened, he removed his sunglasses to aim the full force of his cold-eyed stare down at his Shatei.

Akira flinched. “It’s not what it looks like! This was the only-”

Chisei shoved his way inside. “Erii?”

She was sitting on the tatami in front of a TV that displayed a paused game of Street Thug, dressed in only a T-shirt and shorts. There were shopping bags everywhere and a variety of outfits strewn about the room. The trash bin was lined with bags from food delivery and filled with empty boxes of fried rice.

She grinned at him. “Big Brother!” She signed at him.

“How are you feeling?” He walked past Akira, giving him a slightly less intimidating glare. 

She gave him a thumbs up and popped up from the floor with the wireless controller which she shoved into his hands.

“I heard about what happened to our headquarters. What are we going to do now?” asked Akira

“Let me worry about that.” He turned back to Erii who had picked up her controller. He looked around at the clothing. There was also some jewelry and toys.

She was scrawling on the notepad and then showed him. “Akira bought me tickets to the six flags! They’re discounted because we go close to closing time! Brother come too? Please.”

He looked into her crimson eyes. He held out his hand and accepted the notepad and pen from her and wrote. “Okay. I’ll come.”

Akira, suddenly mindful of  the mess the room, gathered the clothes in a pile and started putting them away only to have Erii seize his arm and shove the notepad in his face.

“Erii wha... oh... oh! I uh... I guess I need to buy another ticket!” He looked up at Chisei and his face turned a little red. “It’s not what it looks like.”

Chisei’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly. “Finish cleaning up.”

He returned to the video game. He wasn’t nearly as good as Akira but Akira played for hours at a time. He understood why.

When he first found Lu Mingfei without his memories and assigned him his staff to care for him and explain his presence, he didn’t notice the purchases that staff was making. Only a few days later, Erii had become more obsessed with online Street Thug. Particularly certain times of the day when she HAD to play online.

Usually, she was after him to play all the time, but he was suddenly free of her presence. She confessed to him that there was someone she enjoyed playing with because she actually had to try to win and sometimes she even lost.

Once it was clear that Mingfei was not going to get better any time soon, he brought him into the fold of the Hydras and they met for the first time. It wasn’t long before they realized. The moment she invited him to play as his knew underling, they recognized each other’s user names. They pointed at each other in recognition.

He had no idea all this was going on. They were joined at the hip after that. He took over her Pokemon Go! account, they started playing a larger variety of games, first as competitors, then as coop teammates, dominating Starcraft and League of Legends, and Call of Duty.

As High Patriarch he didn’t have time to monitor this and, at first, he approved of it. After all, he didn’t have time to play with her.

Now, here in the hotel, she beat him handily again and again. He couldn’t help but smile. When was the last time they played like this? He put one arm around her and hugged her close. “When are you going to let me win one, huh?” 

She held her hand in a sign of ‘never’. He glanced behind him and Akira ducked away around the corner where he was sitting next to a window. He took her notebook and wrote down. “Did he do anything inappropriate?”

She tilted her head. 

Chisei pursed his lips. How to explain?

She took the notepad and started writing and writing... and writing.... He blinked and then he waited.

She handed him the notebook.

“Akira took me out of home because he was worried that I might get lost because we were moving. I saw a store and I wanted to shop. He watched me shop. He said I looked pretty. He helped me get jewelry and then he helped me pay for it. I forgot how to cross the street and he told me how to cross the street. And then I got some shoes. I went to the toy store and I played the claw game. He spent all his change and didn’t get anything. It was funny but he got mad so we got more coins until we can win. I got a toy dog.”

“Then I saw the ferris wheel and I thought it was pretty so he got me the tickets.  And then we went to the hotel. He was upset about the fire. He took me to the hotel because he thought the street might be danger. Then we played video games. Then after that we woke up and played more games and I got fried rice.”

“I’m sorry if  any of that was inappropriate. He didn’t mean it. Can we still go to the six flags?”

Chisei gazed at the notebook for several seconds. He handed it back to her and nodded.

Erii wanted to soak before the trip to the amusement park. Chisei spent the time staring out the window of the hotel. The past twenty four hours was nothing but brutality, destruction, death and disillusionment. He saw more darkness on the horizon. And yet...

He glanced at Akira, who was fidgeting in the corner. “Thank you. I’m in your debt.”

“I... didn’t really do anything. She just dragged me around the city...” He laughed nervously.

“Just take it, Akira.”

He stopped chuckling, though he kept that strained smile on his face. “Oh... Alright.” The smile faded. “Did... something happen?”

“Let’s... not talk about it yet.”

The bathroom door opened. 

Erii walked up in a trendy, avant-garde dress with no sleeves or shoulders or back, black and white and red, with an elaborately patterned skirt.

He huffed a laugh at Akira’s stunned expression. She was very, very beautiful. “Alright. Let’s go.”

They got a taxi to the amusement park. Many families were leaving. There was almost no wait on the rides and it was full of young people who had lots of time and energy with little supervision.

He hung back at a slight distance and watched her drag him around. She had the map and didn’t always tell him where she wanted to go. He just followed her. First, was the rollercoaster because of course it was. He shook his head when she invited him. He was nervous about his fresh wounds and made a lame excuse about needing to use the bathroom while they got on board.

Erii was dying. How was he going to tell him? How was he going to tell her? Their relationship was doomed from the very beginning.

Akira was sick after the ride and they had to take a break while he lay on a bench.

The stars were coming out and the lights were coming on. The place would close in about an hour and a half but there was plenty to do... if only Akira could get up...

“Hey! You!” He turned as someone shouted at him. 

A man in clown make up was sitting in a glass box over a pool of water. 

“Oh... its this thing.” Chisei turned back around, ignoring him.

“Yeah you! You think you’re some sort of secret agent? What’s with those sunglasses? Trying to hide your crossed-eyes?” The man cackled like that was the biggest burn ever.

“Who wears sunglasses in the dark! What are you blind? If you’re not, you sure are now! MORON!”

He chuckled until Erii walked forward, arms stiff at her sides. 

“Woah! Heyheyhey!’ He grabbed her arm. “No... Erii...”

“Want a piece of this, little girl!” The clown taunted. “I bet you couldn’t dunk me! What you gonna do? Huh?”

“Erii!” Chisei barked. He pulled her away. “This is ... he’s paid to do this!”

The Clown continued. “Hey! You gonna let that girl stick up for you? Who’s the real pussy here? Eh?!” The clown, smelling blood and money, in the water turned up the heat. 

Chisei tensed. Okay, the guy was pushing his buttons now.

Akira sat bolt upright. He looked at Erii’s furious expression and Chisei’s desperate attempts to keep her from ending this carnival employee’s life.

He got up, still slightly dizzy. “HEY! You can’t talk to her that way!”

The clown got more excited. “What are you gonna do huh! Come here! Bring it! Your skinny arms probably can’t even hit the target! Hahahah!” He cackled as Akira came closer. “Come here and show her who’s the biggest loser tonight!”

Chisei clapped his hand over Erii’s mouth. Her eyes had gone completely yellow and she was furiously fighting him. Chisei was panicking as he saw all these people becoming curious about the spectacle and walking over. They were all in danger!

“Akira... you’d better...” He growled through clenched teeth. He watched as he paid the operator and received a single ball and was led to the to a line where he was to throw it.

The clown leaned forward. “Hey everyone come and watch this chick! Yeah, the only balls you got is the one in your hand!”

Akira tossed the ball up in the air and caught it and then turned and walked away.

“What are you doing? Chickening out already? Come back here!” 

Akira took about seven paces away, turned, lifted one knee and hurled it. The ball zoomed straight like a rocket, hit the target, pushed back the lever and shattered it.

The clown’s screech perfectly cut when he hit the water. 

The crowd that had gathered around whooped and hollered with glee. As Akira turned around, there was a flash of gold in his eyes.

Hot-shot. Just a little bit. He was skinny, a bit of a nervous wreck in normal circumstances. Anime fan, gamer and all around geek.

But now, he was acting like dunking a carnival clown was as much a serious thing as executing a criminal. It was the most ridiculous situation Chisei had been in in a while, but if you looked at Akira now, it was like he had slain a dragon. 

Chisei let out short laugh and looked down at his sister to see if she had the same opinion and his smile vanished.

The gold in her eyes was replaced by her usual color, but her eyes were wide and fixed on him, oblivious of anyone else, including him. Color rose in her cheeks. 

The carnival operator approached Akira with a large bear which he was surprised to accept.

Chisei watched as Akira came to her with the bear. She lifted her arms and accepted it. Not taking her eyes off his face.

Chisei was the last of his clan. His sole responsibility was running the Hydras. He thought he would be able to run away to France and sell sunscreen. Tachibana had promised him that if he defeated the Devil Clan and protected the family secrets, he would take over as High Patriarch and Chisei would be free. 

But now he just found himself on that same treadmill of responsibility. Defeating the Devil Clan, caring for his dying sister, and making sure that Cassell girl didn’t make it off the island.

Akira was from Cassell. Eventually, he would have to return there, by will or by force. This Akira persona was just that... a persona. It wasn’t real any more than her video games were real. He’d be naive to set that aside. That’s why he tried to keep him away from her for so long. But there was no way for him to completely do that so long as he let them play together and he didn’t stop letting them play together. How could he?

Erii would never understand even if he explained but she would obey him. He knew her. She trusted him. If he told her now to walk away from Akira, never talk to him again, she’d comply. She’d say okay and it would be a lie. Just like Akira’s okay at the tattoo parlor had been a lie. It would damage their relationship. Her life would be lonelier and emptier and it would be the last days of her life!

He walked up to Akira. “Good job. Now... I think we need to go to that Ferris Wheel before it closes.”

Introducing the 2020 Conversion Benchmark Report

This year’s Conversion Benchmark Report uses machine learning to assist our data team in analyzing 186.9 million visits to 34,132 Unbounce-built landing pages. In terms of sample size, we analyzed more visits to these pages than the populations of Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico, Laos, and Ireland combined. 

For full context, the previous (2017) version of this report was also built on machine learning insights, but in three years we’ve refined our approach to provide tons more real, proprietary customer data to feed the machine. Now we have even better, more reliable outputs—as well as a few new ways to break down our findings, like by conversion goal. (These are boundaries we’re going to keep pushing, too.)

But what kind of info does the report contain? For one thing, you’ll find median conversion rates broken down to 16 key industries. In many cases, we’ve got wide enough sample sizes to sort them into subcategories too, so you can see how your brother’s pest control service measures up against your sister’s HVAC company. (Or how your uncle’s cybersecurity software converts against your great aunt’s cloud accounting platform.)

The Conversion Benchmark Report includes 16 industries broken down into dozens of subcategories.

Why do we report on median instead of average (mean)? Our goal is to provide you with a realistic picture of where you stand, so this year’s report lists median conversion rates as our measure of central tendency instead of the mean. We found this reduces the impact of outliers (like pages that convert five times better than the rest) on the final benchmarks.

Not clear enough? Then imagine you want to find out, on average, how many eyes people have. The median tells us they have two eyes. According to the mean, though, they have slightly less than two. Because outliers (people with one or fewer eyes) bring that number down.

Both these measures are correct, but which one would you prefer to rely on if your business is selling sunglasses?

What if your industry doesn’t appear in the report? For this year’s report, we’ve tried to be even more representative. With machine learning helping us to sort thousands of landing pages in a logical way, we’ve increased the number of industries covered from 10 to 16, and we’ve even added subcategories whenever sample sizes allow.

If you still don’t see yourself represented, though, compare your conversion rates to industries with similar audiences and conversion goals. While we don’t actually recommend comparisons between very unrelated industries (except for fun), let your judgment be your guide. 

A note on COVID-19. The conversion data in this report comes from 2019, so we realize it shows norms that have been disrupted for some vulnerable industries—like travel, events and leisure, restaurants, and medical practitioners. These benchmarks show what you can expect in stable periods, and they provide insights about how your visitors typically behave (and why they convert). We hope they’ll help you set up your digital campaigns for success—and inspire your rebound. Going beyond the benchmarks

Benchmarks are tremendously helpful, for all the reasons I talked about above. (If you work for an agency, you know this already. They’re a baller way of showing the value of what you do—and helping clients determine their true conversion potential.) 

How do I best communicate with my target audience? 

In copywriting circles, the received wisdom is that clarity comes above all else. If you’re looking to put up the fewest hurdles possible between audience and offer, it can make sense to keep your vocabulary basic and your sentences tight and untangled.

Our data, however, complicates this equation. Is simple always better? Nope. It turns out that different industries tend to convert more often at different reading levels (and some see weaker relationships between conversion rates and readability than others). 

There are even cases in which it’s good to sound sophisticated. B2B companies offering lead-gen consulting or instruction, for instance, appear to benefit from more challenging language. We see a drop in conversion rates as pages become easier to understand. (Frankly, that’s not what we expected.)

When it comes to reading ease, pages for lead-gen consultants appear to benefit from being harder to read.

Our machine learning analysis enabled us to look at copy from 34 thousand pages. Each page is assigned a Flesch reading ease score based on the average number of syllables per word and words per sentence. More syllables and more words means more…harder.

Here’s roughly how the scoring breaks down:

What’s the perf word length for my landing pages?

While it’s true that shorter pages tend to convert better, many industries have sweet spots that break the rule—which means, if you’re going to create a long-form landing page, you should go this long. This is especially true in the wild territories beyond 200 words, where unexpected correlations between length and conversion rate have led many a marketer astray.

At what length do landing pages for family services convert best? The graph provides answers.

Depending on your offer and industry, you may find that you need to use more words to get your point across, but graphs like the one above can let you know what’s ideal. For family services, that’s 300-500 words (if you can’t get it shorter than 150 words). For other industries, it can be more or less. Whatever the case, creating variants based on our findings can definitely be a good candidate for A/B testing or Smart Traffic.

What emotions might relate to better conversion rates?

You likely know in your gut that people’s feelings can impact their decision to buy, but which ones actually drive conversions on your landing pages? To find out, we ran an ML-powered sentiment analysis that looked at emotion-associated words that might relate to healthy conversion rates—and which might even be slowing you down. 

(Spoiler: using trust words isn’t always advisable. “Trust us.”)

For SaaS, the concentration of anticipation words on a landing page correlates with its conversion rate.

When it comes to SaaS conversions, for instance, it turns out that language that conveys anticipation (words like gradual, highest, improve, and launch) sometimes correlates with better conversion rates. Or, to put it another way: as we find more of these words, we also often tend to see better conversion performance.

You can explore this example, and many others, in the report.

A good conversion rate is one you can improve upon.

When it comes down to brass tacks, all this benchmarking is valuable insofar as you can use it to build a better conversion machine from what you learn. How do you do it?

Explore the insights in this report. The report is broken down into 16 industries. How are your landing pages stacking up against the baseline? Are you way out ahead? Are you falling behind? Start with your industry, sure, but take a look at others too. There may be insights that are worth exploring outside your own arena.

Apply the data learnings to your own campaigns. Create a variant (or more than one variant) of your page that applies some of the insights we’ve provided. For example, you might dial down the jargon until you hit the optimal Flesch reading score. (You can use the free readability formula tool here to test it for yourself.)

Optimize and test. Keep in mind that data analysis reveals trends and tendencies rather than absolutes. You’re making informed decisions when you apply these learnings, but testing is still your best way to confirm. Run A/B tests or, if you’re short on the time or traffic to do so, just publish your variants and turn on Smart Traffic in the Unbounce Builder. It’ll use machine learning to automatically decide which variant is right for which visitors, and it’s otherwise hands-off. In short, this year’s report uses ML to identify opportunities you simply couldn’t spot without the processing power of a machine. Optimizing your pages doesn’t have to be aspirational. Action and adventure  GAME BLOG

Today in this assignment I will be talking about 3 games which are GTA V, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and Assassin Creed Brotherhood. The genre these 3 games come from are action adventure game. The first action adventure games video game was intruded in 1975 with Taitos Western Gun, which combined action gameplay with an open-world adventure environment. With the rejections of adventure game genre from mainstream popularity in the use of term has been more like a hybrid/silent term of action adventure has been more liberal.

The first game that I will be talking about is GTA V. This game stands for grand theft auto V. The game was designed from Rockstar Games. The game was released on September 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360, which made around $1 billion dollars for the first couple of days of the sales alone. Later on they upgraded to a newer version after one year when it was released. They did this for “next gen” short for generation for PS4 and Xbox 1 which was released on November 2014 and for PC was on April 2015.

It is the first main entry in the GTA series since GTA IV which was its predecessor which was released in 2008. The gaming is set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California. This setting was used previously on GTA San Andreas. The single players story follows when three criminals trying to do a heist while they were under pressure from government agency. The open world design lets players to doing anything freely from city, downtown, open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos which is based as Los Angles.

 When it comes to the gameplay players can play 3 of the characters on first or third person perspective. On story mode people complete missions, linear scenarios with objectives that have been set so to progress further through the story. Other than that players can play freely roam the open world to see what to do. People can do thigs such as buying clothes or weapons they can have a haircut. They can use melee attacks such as explosive and firearms to fight off enemies. When players get killed they are respawned back the hospital as a supply of resources to increase the health of the character. The list of non-characters players you will come across with are Lamar, Ron, Lester, Solomon Richards these characters are allies of the 3 main ones. The other characters that are the enemies are Wei Cheng, Devin Weston, Steve Haines and Harald “Stretch” Joseph. When it came to creating the creation and conception of the characters, Rockstar gaming decided to take a step up by giving players three protagonists to switch between the game. The concept of having three characters in connected protagonists was plan or invent during the development of GTA San Andreas in 2004 but the company felt like they dint have any technical power or ability or confidence to release it.

When it comes to perspective and Camera view in this game, throughout in GTA V the perspective is context sensitive but however most of the game the perspective that the player views the character is in third person on PS3 and Xbox 360 but on PS4 , Xbox 1 and PC you can do it on first and third person whereas when the player moves around then the view is changed. You are able to see the body of the character that you are playing so you will know where are going. When it comes to HUD in GTA V on the bottom left you can see a map on where you are in. Below the map you see your health and armour so that you can see the character on how much health you have.

When you click the menu screen in GTA V the options that you will get is setting where you can change the controls, audio, camera,display,notifications,saving and setup, motion sensor function and Facebook. You can also switch from story mode to online if you feel like you have finished it and go online to play with your friends and other players. When it comes to the terrain in GTA V it renders a cube map of the environment which means it is generated in real time at each frame, its purpose is to help render realistic reflections. It takes a panoramic pictures which is put on the tripod and imaging that you are standing on to of it which shoots 6 faces of the cube one by one at the pictures at a city by 90 degree each time it does. When it comes to the architecture in GTA V there are building structures, monuments which you would expect in real life in a metropolis city with a 3D layout on the buildings, mountains, desserts, sea  and outside fields. The objects of GTA V are most missions have optical mission objectives in story mode. Completing missions will help you to progress you things such as characters and unlock activities like flight school, racing or buying new clothes. In online its similar to story mode where you can do heist or updated things like doomsday, smuggler run or area wars which you take part and unlock features and more money bonus points to buy things such as a house/apartments, vehicles and prizes.

There have been many controversies surrounding in GTA V which its developers had issues. Such as several controversies that is related to its violence and depiction of woman. There is a mission that require the players to use torture equipment in a hostage interrogation. This mission received a lot of criticisms from anti-torture groups and politicians. The game became a subject to portrayal of woman on widespread online.

The second game that I am going to talk about is Assassins Creed Brotherhood. It is also a action and adventure video game. This game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. This is the third major instalment in the Assassins Creed Series. The game was released on November and December 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360. Later on it was made available on Microsoft Windows in March and June 2011. The plot of the game story is about the Assassins who fight for peace with free will and Templars who in a strong feeling of wanting to have peace through control.

When it comes to the Game World and Objects like in Assassins Creed Brotherhood in the game are ancient building in Rome that date back on the 16th century whereas the terrain of the game are surrounded by rivers open green fields and other towns. When it comes to the architecture in Assassins Creed Brotherhood the game mainly uses ancient Greek and Rome mixed together that look and date back to the 16th century. When it comes to object the main object is to complete the quest and the missions.

When it comes to characters in Assassin Creed Brotherhood the Character that you can play is Desmond  Miles who is the main character of the Assassins Creed franchise. Ezio Auditore Da Firenze who is the nobleman of Florence and the main protagonist of the Assassin Creed ll ‘trilogy”. There are other 21 characters the players can choose which are Courtesan, Barber, Priest, Noble, Prowler, Executioner, Doctor, Blacksmith, Captain, Smuggler, Engineer, Footpad, Thief, Hellequin also female Hellequin which is available on through uPlay and Mercenary. The list of non-playing characters that in the game are Cristina Vespucci who is Ezio lover and considered the most beautiful woman of Florence. Duccio de Luca is another non playing character. Juno is another non-playing character, who is one of those character who came before Desmond and his group of assassins come across and meet.  

When it comes to perspective and camera view in Assassins Creed Brotherhood is its set in an open world and presented from a third-person perspective with a primary focus on using Desmond and Ezio’s combat power and stealth abilities’ to eliminate the targets and freely explore the open environment of Rome.

In Assassins Creed Brotherhood it is the first game in the main series to feature the multiplayer mode. The players go through Templars training in  the Absteog facility the multiplayer mode also contains a levelling system where the player can  unlock rewards by earning experience points during the matches and obtain new levels. The abilities are active strikes which can be used again only after the cool down time. When it comes to perks they are passive skills which can be used to be equipped before the match even starts and they are active at all time. The streak bonuses are also included and players can be awarded for reaching a certain number of successful and failed contracts. This multiplayer beta is exclusively to PS3 users which was announced at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010.

When it comes to HUD in Assassins Creed Brotherhood there are things such as a map which is located on the bottom right hand side of the screen. The map helps you to explore places in the map and if you get lost you are able to use the map to guide you to places. This makes it useful for players

The third game that I am going to be talking about is The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. It is also an action and adventure game which was developed and published by CD Projekt. This game was based on The Witcher series of fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The game was released on  May 19th 2015 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PS4. The game received critical praise enthusiastically and publicity for its gameplay visual, world design, narrative and combat. However it received lesser criticism due to technical issues, later most of which were later repaired. The plot of the game is Geralt who is the main character re-joins his long-lost lover , Yennefer in the town of White Orchard.

When it comes to game world and objects in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt in Terrain there is a landscape where it is a fantasy world surrounded by lake, forest, trees, humans, elves, dwarves, monsters and other creatures co-exist on the Continent. While moving around you can come across with small towns. When it comes to the architecture the game itself is surrounded by an open world countryside’s in Europe such as Poland, Amsterdam and Scandinavia that allow you to explore it. The main object is to complete the quest and progress up to different levels in the game.

When it comes to characters in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt the playable character is Geralt of Rivia who is the main character of the game. The list of non-playing characters are Ciri, Triss Merigold, Emhyn var Emreis, Keria Metz and Gaunter O’Dimm. When it comes to perspective and camera view in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt its set in an open fantasy world and presented from a third-person perspective. The players control Geralt of Rivia a monster hunter who is known as a Witcher. Geralt walks, runs, rolls, dodges, run, climbs, jump, and swims.

When it comes to HUD in the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt you will have things like the map which is located on the top right hand side. On the bottom left you will have additional/quick equipment such as a crossbow,2/3 thunderbolt and Ekimmara decoction. On the top left you will have a red bar which will be a level progress on which level you are in.

New game is when you want to start off fresh from the beginning of the mission. Load game means when you save the game and continue to start from there. //Well, that dream happened.

//So I fell asleep last night while @selfish-swine had a Gundam Unicorn clip plus some assorted other Youtube videos playing on the TV which might have had some affect but BOY HOWDY, I dreamt I was watching a high-quality production anime of Star Fox but it wasn't a happy one (far from it). Spoilers below due to graphic violence, blood, body horror, and death.

The anime itself has the quality of high-budget OVA, like. Around Gundam: The Origin high quality. Battle Begins looks great, but the anime I saw in my dream looked far more organic rather than with traceovers of the characters’ game models. Which means the expressions on the characters look far more natural, which always bothered me about BB. I emphasize this because the quality of the anime in my dream was what suckered me into believing it was real at the moment.... up until the very end and I thought "..........fuck, this is a dream, isn't it? Goddammit."

It was apparently around mid-season, at Katina. The layout and design resembled what Assault gave us, but, you know. Rendered competently. Everything was of dark colors and alarms and sirens everywhere. Despite this being on Katina, the plotline was N64 Fichina: Fox's team must disarm a bomb but fight off Star Wolf before they can do that. The thing is, apparently, Fox and his team are on foot while Wolf's is wrecking up shit in their Wolfens in Hunter form... except Pigma, whose Wolfen somehow managed to take up the shape of a Geara Zulu but much squatter and more Votoms-sized (so... a green Brutishdog??).

Apparently I caught up to this episode mid-airing, because it looks like the episode only had some 5-10 minutes until the end. As Wolf, Leon, Pigma, and Andrew fuck up the Katina base chasing after Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy, Team Star Fox they end up separating into three different groups: Fox and Peppy each going solo, and Falco and Slippy trying to survive together. Along the way, Wolf, Leon, and Andrew lose sight of their targets and Falco and Slippy take advantage of this to find the bomb in the underground levels and disarm it. Meanwhile, Fox gets lost in the maze in the lower levels as Peppy and Pigma fight above ground outside of the base. And... this is where I felt like my brain wanted to war with my heart because HGGG.

On Fox's side, he finds himself in a hallway right by a secret lab with an indoor window whilst his comm line remains open so he can remain in contact with the rest of the Team (though Peppy is intermittently losing connection). The lab itself resembled a morgue, complete with chambers where bodies where held and an examination table. A simian scientist in a lab coat was there, who appeared similar as the Ruffian whom Star Fox spoke with upon approaching Sargasso in Assault, though with white hair. 

He spoke to Fox in the most chilling, dissonantly serene manner, greeting Fox as though he was expecting him. The dialogue was something along the lines of:

Scientist: Hello, Fox. I have been waiting for you. Fox: Were you now? Scientist: I have been expecting you to come pick up your father by now. Would you like to see him? I've fixed him right up. Fox: .....What?

The scientist would then open one of the chambers as Falco and Slippy, overhearing all this from the intercom, desperately calls out to Fox what the hell is going on. The scientist pulls out a bodybag and unzips it..... it's James. Complete with shades and the nick on his ear. Fox balks at the window, hesitating and shaking on the spot. All while the scientist presents the body in full gory detail.

Scientist: You don't believe it's your father? Come take a look yourself. He's very much dead. Would you like to see his eyes? I'd have to search his skull. I don't think I can unsew his mouth if you'd want me to. It was so hard putting his jaw back together.

Fox was just. Frozen on the spot. You can tell he was just contemplating shooting the scientist guy through the window for desecrating James' body like that.... until you hear from Slippy on the intercom:

Slippy: Fox!! Don't listen to him! Your dad should have been dead for five years! There is no way that could be him!!

Meanwhile, above ground, things are looking dire for Peppy. Peppy's Arwing was completely destroyed, and any attempts at requesting another one of something from the Great Fox are constantly interrupted. Finally, Pigma catches up to him, as debris fell on Peppy, keeping him pinned onto the ground and unable to escape. Pigma approaches Peppy and opens up his canopy, showing his face, and aims his gun at Peppy's face, taunting him one last time in person before he decides to kill him. Peppy braces himself for death.... and braces... and braces... nothing. He looks onto Pigma... he's hesitating from squeezing the trigger. Shaking. Almost crying. Peppy then tries to appeal to him, pleading him to not pull that trigger. Even reminding him of the last time they were here in Katina. And then a flashback.

James was leading Pigma and Peppy on a similar mission of disarming a bomb in Katina, and once more, they were on foot, dodging enemy fire. Pigma was assigned to do the disarming, all while James and Peppy were tasked to defend Pigma while he does his work. Just as it looked like the bomb would go off, they managed to succeed. They even celebrated, James, Peppy, and Pigma all cheering that they are still together, alive, and grateful they can trust each other. They got each other's back. As friends as well as colleagues.

Cut to the present. Peppy is still pleading with Pigma, and now both are crying. Wolf, meanwhile, orders Pigma to finish the mission, as the bomb is expected to go off any moment now. Slippy and Falco have failed to reach the bomb. The base is shaking, with the walls breaking down and electricity surging all over. Pigma could have just left Peppy there--he's pinned down anyway. Fox, Falco, and Slippy are nowhere to be seen. Peppy pleads to Pigma that they could run away from here together, forget about the past. Forget what happened. Rebuild their friendship. Look for a better future after the Wars. And forgive each other. Pigma then lowers himself in his seat, gritting his teeth, as he holds onto the controls of his mech as he lowers his gun....

Pigma: ... It's way past forgiveness now.

A gunshot within the shadows. And blood.

There was no sound. Everything seemed to slow down. Falco and Slippy run down the halls, trying to escape the base, and thankfully find Fox along the way. The scientist guy leaves the lab nonchalantly through a secret door within the morgue. Fox is frozen in disbelief as he heard Pigma's shot through the intercom. Did... Pigma kill Peppy? Time sped up and sound returned as normal as red lights flash everywhere and sirens scream into your ears. Fox, Falco, and Slippy managed to make it in time as fire broke out outside the base, their Arwings damaged but flyable. They make their way out into the flames to hop into their cockpits and escape...

Peppy's bullet-riddled body can be seen in the flames, pinned under the debris. He's not breathing.

Fox loses it. Just as the timer is running out, Falco and Slippy plead for Fox as he gets out of his cockpit, crying to Peppy as he rushes to the debris and try to pry it off him. The clock is ticking. Falco tells Fox to just leave Peppy: he's already dead. Fox doesn't care. We get very quick flashbacks of when Fox and Peppy knew each other back in the day. When Fox was a pup and Peppy attended his birthday party. When he scraped his knee and Peppy put a bandaid on it. When he was attending his mother's funeral with his Peppy and James comforting him in the rain. When Peppy arrived on Papetoon after escaping that fateful mission to Venom. All while Fox is trying to pull the rubble off Peppy, as though not caring if he gets caught in the explosion. Knowing full well they could just die right here, right now, Falco and Slippy leap out of their cockpits and help Fox remove the rubble, then aid him in bringing Peppy’s body into Fox’s cockpit as they barely make it off the base alive. The explosion’s blowback even knocks them out as they are exiting the atmosphere, and it seemed like forever until their ships make it out of orbit, on its way to the Great Fox.

The scene cuts quickly to the three just. Staring onto Peppy’s body while he laid on a cot in the dark. Slippy is clearly crying, Falco can’t even cognitively muster a response in grief. And Fox. He stares into space. Wondering why he fell for the scientist’s lies and came to Peppy’s aid when he had the chance.

And the episode ends there.

And I was just all “...WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?” So I looked the episode online, as of course there is a wikipedia page on it. Apparently this episode caused a lot of controversy in Japan, and in an interview with one of the head writers, he says that he decided with killing off Peppy in such a heartwrenching manner because 1.) He wanted to bring back the emotional gravitas of losing a wingman permanently as the original Star Fox had, and 2.) He REALLY hated how Peppy’s fakeout was written in, so the death scene and everything written around it was intended to be a “fix” to that. BAWWW.

So of course I tried to look for a followup to this episode, and found out, in a future episode, they actually return to the destroyed Katina base for... some reason or other. I think Fox wanted to find the scientist to see if he really knew what happened to James. Upon finding him, the graphics of the anime resembled closer to how Battle Begins looked (as in traceovers of game models), and Fox was able to lead Falco and Slippy into the remains of the lab. For... some strange reason, everything was starting to look like a Dead Space level, with meat moss everywhere and blood and such. Yeah.

The scientist was there and is all “...I found the secret to eternal life. Want to meet your father, Fox?~” And before Fox, Falco, and Slippy knew it, James (or the lookalike) comes in with a horde of Resident Evil-styled zombies. And then cut to black.

...Yeah, it was at that part where I thought “....this is just a fucking dream, isn’t it?” And indeed, I woke up to the TV still on and a video game review (?) being on, because apparently both Rob and I fell asleep before either of us could turn it off.

"Virgil, where are the rest of the cookies from this batch?"

"What do you mean?" Virgil shouted from the bathroom. "That's all of the ones from that batch."

"What do you mean that's all the cookies from that batch?! The recipe makes over 30 cookies, but there's only 2!"

"I just sampled some of the cookie dough!"

"Some?"

"Most of the cookie dough..."

"For the love, Virgil. Why?" Ding! The bell at the front of the store rang across the store.

"Hello, welcome to Blackberry Cafe. Can I help you - oh, hi Roman!"

"Hey Pat, can I get the usual?"

Virgil came out of the back, "depends, are you gonna pay this time?"

"Probably not," he admits. I package up two cookies and three scones and hand them to him.

"Two chocolate chip cookies and three rosemary ham and cheese scones, on the house!"

"Patton, no," Virgil sighs. "I was trying to get him to pay for once. He can't just always get free food."

"That's just the perks of having an little brother who owns a cafe," Roman states with a wink.

"Plus, if I didn't give it to him, he probably wouldn't eat until dinner."

"Well maybe that would teach him to pack a lunch," Virgil reasoned. "Or better yet, actually pay."

"But he's hungry..." I pout at him for a minute before Roman cleared his throat.

"So, guys, me and Logan are going on a date tonight, if you guys are interested in joining us...?" Virgil looks at me. "It's up to you guys, of course, you don't have to, if you don't want to."

He trailed off, looking at the two of us. I shrugged, "I have work off tonight, so it shouldn't be a problem for me. What do you think Virg?"

"I don't think I have work. Sure, why not," Virgil looked at me with a smile. "We could use a date night anyway."

Roman gave us a big smile. "So, we've got a reservation for nine, so let's plan to meet up at my place around...eight, eight thirty?"

"Hey Virg? What do you think of this tie?" I shout across the apartment.

"I don't know, it would be a lot easier to tell if you weren't on the other side of the house." He sounded stressed.

I walk out of our bedroom into the living room and do a little twirl. "How do I look?"

Virgil seemed to be at a lack for words. "You look great," Virgil admitted. I wasn't wearing much, just some slacks and a loose blouse. I added a small blue bow to match my shirt. It was slightly fancier than my usual attire, but Virgil seemed to like it. We stared at each other for a moment. Nothing was said, but a comfortable silence filled the air. And then my phone rang. It pierced through the air with a certain, yet annoying ring.

I sighed, "one second." I picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey, we need you to come in." I walked back into bedroom.

"I'm sorry, what?!"

"Look, I'm sorry, sir, but we need you to come in."

"No way, it's date night!" I protest. "I've got plans. Call someone else in."

"It is imperative that you come in to work," the man on the other end insisted.

"What could be so important that you need me too come in on my one day off," I demanded. "I mean, honestly, it's bad enough that -"

"Dracowitch. We have a lead on Dracowitch."

"Draco -" I shout, before lowering my voice. "Dracowitch? But how? He's been off the radar for months now."

"Which is why you need to come in. You are the best man we have."

I sighed, "fine. You better be paying overtime for this."

"Once the job is done, we will. But you must get here as soon as possible."

"I'll be there."

"Good. Farewell, and may you be fruitful."

"As to help the company grow," I say, finishing our company motto, before hanging up. Walking back into the living room, "so bad news," I look at Virgil, who had just hung up a from his own phone call. "Oh, who was that?"

"What, oh, I was just on the phone with Roman. So, what were you saying?"

"Oh, yeah. Unfortunately, I just got called into work. They need someone at the shelter for a few hours. Something about someone being delayed at the airport...? I don't know. All I know, is that I have to go to work because no one else answered the call." I felt bad lying to Virg, but I couldn't just tell him the truth. Honestly, I wanted to tell him the truth, I really did, but it was against the rules and could put him in danger. If something were to happen to him because of me, I couldn't live with the guilt.

"Oh, that sucks," he says. "Honestly, I want looking forward to sitting in a fancy restaurant and paying 50 bucks for spaghetti, anyway."

He was trying to make me feel better about the whole situation, bless his heart. This is why I love him, he was willing to do anything to make me happy and that, I lived for. Virgil restores my faith in humanity, no matter what happens, he finds a way to cheer me up.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, it's fine. I'll call Roman back and explain. You go to work."

"Okay. Thank you." I head back into the bedroom for the third time that night to get changed. I get changed and grab my bag. "I love you," I say giving him a quick kiss.

"Love you, too. Now, go take care of those dogs like no one had taken care of them before!"

I giggle. "Be back in a few hours!" I say before closing the door.

Virgil's POV

Patton closed the door. I look out the window, watching for his car to leave. A blue Prius passes by the window. Correction, Patton's blue Prius passes by the window. I watch as it rounds the corner. Poor Patton. I knew he was looking forward to this. We hardly get to go on dates anymore.

I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. Someone was calling me. Again. The first time was Roman and now it was, I look at the caller ID, work. Of course, work always picks the worst times to call. I hesitate for a moment, before picking up.

"Hello?"

"Hey, you need come here, like right now," the person on the other line spoke quickly and sharply, while also sounding rather rushed.

"We got a lead on Dracowitch and they put Morality on it. You're his backup, so you need to get here."

"Yep. And this is the only good lead we've had in weeks, if not months."

And with that, I grabbed the keys to my car, a dark blue Honda, and ran out the door. I hopped down the flight of stairs at the front door and popped the trunk. Taking out an extra shirt, I close the trunk and climb in the car.

I hate my job, I really do. If I had the choice to just stay home, I would, but the bakery doesn't bring in enough money. So, I work for the 'print shop' and Patton has been helping by working at the local animal shelter.

My real job most definitely pays well, but it's not something that I would openly tell people about. Even if it wouldn't result in me getting fired. I am...a hacker, in a way. The term that the company hired us under is 'Personal Guide'. Which was true, we do guide people, just not the disabled and elderly. Think more along the lines of hitmen and assassins.

Our job is simple. Aide our assigned partner through their missions by briefing them on the mission, hacking into the security of buildings, giving them directions, and letting them know if anyone was up ahead. Typical hacker things. Oh, and keeping track of their location, incase they need backup. Typically, your partner will need backup occasionally, four to five months is the company average. But I've never had to call backup. Maybe it's luck, but I'm almost certain it's not.

I believe it's my partner, rather than luck. He is literally the best assassin this company has. When they paired us up, everyone was curious as to why. Based on all the rumors flying around, this guy was a legend. No one truly understood why he had been paired with a newbie with no prior experience in anything related to computers or the company.

Until they saw us work together. We just clicked. I would have locked doors slide open as he approached them, as he responded with the witty pun that made me groan. In the middle of missions, we shared our stories about life outside of the company. We'd swap jokes and recipes, recommend restaurants for the other to try, we literally would just talk about anything. Morality, as he was called, was the only thing that made this horrible job worthwhile.

Our current target was an online personality by the name of Dracowitch. It seemed to be a German, or possibly Russian name, seeing as it was pronounced Draco-vitch. They've been untraceable, up until now.

I pull up to the print shop. Even though the store was a small local business, it seemed to be bustling with life. The lights were on and about half a dozen people were running around doing various things.

Taking a deep breath in, I walk inside and straight to the counter, where a man sat, attempting to hide the fact that he was watching cartoons with a book. I cleared my throat, before simply giving him a "hey."

"Ah, Mr. Black-Berry. I don't believe you have work tonight," the man said, pausing his show and closing his book.

"Got called in."

"I see, your husband must be mad."

"Doesn't know, he got called in too, so I left after he did."

"Be careful with that. Do it one too many times, you'll get accused of cheating. I did that once and she signed us up for therapy."

"Oh, how is the Mrs.?"

"She's fine. Been a bit better since therapy."

"That's good. Well, have a good night, Larry. Say hi to Dot for me!"

"Will do!" And with that he pressed a button under his desk. The door behind him slid open, revealing an elevator to the basement.
